Future-Gem Kiddies College Rules and Regulations

All students should attend school and classes regularly and punctually. School starts at 7:30am, morning assembly starts at 7:45am and lessons start at 8:00am. The School should be notified in writing / with a call or by booking holiday on the school portal in case of illness. Students will disperse at 3:00p.m on Mondays - Thursdays and at 1:00pm on Fridays. Parents coming to pick up their gems will not be permitted into the corridors/classrooms. They will have to wait in the designated areas for their gems. Students who can go home by themselves are expected to disperse after 3:05p.m / 1:05pm respectively. The School will not be held responsible for any child(ren) remaining in the premises after 4:00 p.m. unless the class teacher has asked them to do so.

The school uniform must be kept neat and tidy always. Girls may plait or weave their hair without artificial attachments. Boys must have their hair decently cut. Beards and mustaches are not allowed. Students must come to school wearing the correct school uniform. Uniform must be neatly cleaned and ironed. The Shirt must be fully buttoned. Personal cleanliness, hygiene and neatness is expected at all times. Nails must be kept clean and short. Fancy hairstyles and coloured hair is NOT ALLOWED. Use of cosmetics is not allowed. Bracelets and neck-chains are prohibited for boys and girls. Black shoes, black belts, black / navy blue /white socks are to be worn.

  • Students are expected to behave politely and responsibly at all times. Stealing, pick-pocketing are serious offenses which can lead to expulsion.
  • Noise making is highly prohibited.
  • Every student must have his/her own textbooks and written materials. All school books must be labeled and neatly maintained throughout the year. Books must be brought according to the day's timetable without fail. Students should not deface or tear the library books/personal books. Students are not permitted to paste stickers and color the pages of school notebooks unless specifically instructed by the teachers.
  • Going out from the school premises during school hours is not allowed except with permission from the Principal or Vice Principal and with an exit permit.
  • Sick students are to report to the school nurse or the nearest teacher.
  • Students should not bring more than N200 to school. When more, it should be kept with the class/subject teacher. The school will not take responsibility for the loss of money/items.
  • Students are not allowed to receive visitors during school hours. Any visitor(s) should report at the office of the Vice-Principal/Principal.
  • Snacks/lunch must be eaten at the appropriate time and not in the Computer lab, Subject room, Library, laboratory, etc.
  • Smoking and consumption of alcohol are illegal and highly PROHIBITED.
  • Noise making is not allowed in the library.
  • Videotapes, Walkman, Audio-tapes, Handsets, compact discs, iPod, and indecent literature should not be brought to the school as the items would be confiscated.
  • All students should immediately return to their classes when break is over.
  • Except for afternoon lessons organized by the school, students should leave for home shortly after closing at 3.00 p.m.

  • Students must respect and obey their teachers and School authorities at all times.
  • Running, playing, and shouting in the classrooms and corridors during study hours is forbidden. Students must not indulge in fights, physical and verbal abuse in school. Stringent action will be taken against all students instigating and/or participating in such acts.
  • Chewing chicklets and gum in the school premises is strictly forbidden.

  • Students are to handle their chairs and lockers/desks with care. All damages to school property will be charged against the offending student.
  • Students must take care of the school property. No scratches, writings, or drawings must be made on the school furniture or walls.
  • Damage done by accident must be reported to the class teacher. Students who willfully damage school property must make good the damage done.
  • Students should not interfere with or damage items such as taps, closets, wash basins, electrical fittings, windows, plugs, etc. Guilty students will be severely punished and made to bear the cost of repairs.

  • Sweeping and cleaning of the classrooms must be done daily by closing hours. All students should sweep the class when it is their turn to do so.
  • Students should keep off from all restricted areas in the school environment.
  • Toilets should be used decently without urinating or excreting on the floor. Used sanitary pads should not be thrown in the closets.
  • Defacing or writing on the wall with any type of material is a very serious offense.

  • All students are to join at least one club in the school and be actively involved.
  • All students are to take part in sports activities.

  • Absolute silence should be maintained inside and around the examinations halls.
  • Textbooks, notes, or pieces of paper of any sort are not allowed into the examination room.
  • Assault or threatening the invigilator is a serious offense. Any student found guilty of examination malpractice will be suspended from school for one session, and/or repeat the class.

  • Parents seeking quick clarifications from the staff may meet them between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on school working days.
  • Parents are not permitted in the school corridors after 8:15 a.m. For any detailed meetings, parents are requested to meet the teachers after prior appointment.
  • Under no circumstances should a teacher be disturbed in the classrooms.
  • Parents must book a convenient time to meet the Principal/Vice Principals/Coordinator/Counselor in case of an emergency.
  • Failure to comply with the above requests may result in the parent's child being kept out of class.

  • Students who persistently disregard school rules cause disruption to their own education and to that of their peers and as well being a negative influence on the school community as a whole. Persistent flouting of the school rules will lead to the application of severe sanctions. Serious disciplinary offenses at FKC are punished by the imposition of Authority's discipline detentions or by temporary or permanent exclusion. These sanctions are not given lightly. Authority's detentions are imposed by the Headmaster, the Deputy Headmaster, or the Principal and exclusions are only imposed by the Proprietress/Director after discussion with senior members of staff. Discipline may be applied through the following: Through Remarks, Warning Letters, and Yellow Card entry.
  • All remarks must be signed immediately by the parent. After three (3) similar remarks by the same teacher, the parents are liable to be summoned by the Coordinators/Principal. Further action as required may include a Yellow Card entry.
  • Yellow Card entries are made on the following grounds: Grave Indiscipline, damage to school property, acts of violence against fellow students, using abusive or obscene language.
  • Any student acquiring 12 disciplinary points in a 12-month period cannot be expected to continue his education at FKC. Once the 12-point limit has been reached or exceeded, a review of the student's disciplinary record will be undertaken by the Headmaster in discussions with parents or guardians and senior staff. A decision will then be taken as to whether the student concerned should be allowed to retain his place at FKC.
  • Students should always have regard for the good name of the school and their behavior should not bring that name into disrepute.

  • It is compulsory for all students to complete 75% of attendance in the year to make them eligible to sit for their final exams. The percentage, however, could be relaxed on medical grounds, but such students will not be eligible for any academic rewards.
  • In all cases of absence from school, the parent of the concerned student(s) is expected to book holiday for the child(ren) on the school portal.
  • Absence for 3 to 5 days on medical grounds must be accompanied by a medical certificate and should be signed by the Coordinator. For any other absence of more than 5 days, the written sanction of the Principal is required.
  • No student should leave the school premises without the permission of the Principal/Vice Principals/Coordinator.
  • Parents seeking to take their child/ward during school hours must meet the Principal/Vice Principals/Coordinator for permission.
  • Students will be permitted to leave the class during school hours only when the parent reports in person at the school reception and secures the necessary permission.
  • Students will not be sent with drivers/friends/relatives without the written request of the Parent.
  • Students who have been absent for more than a month without permission are liable to have their names struck off the rolls and have to seek readmission.
  • Any student who is sick should not come on the day of evaluation. The child will not be given a zero, but the average will be considered when the medical certificate is produced.
  • Students suffering from contagious diseases must stay away from school and seek medical attention. A student returning to school after suffering from an infection or contagious disease should produce a fitness certificate from the Doctor. Students suffering from the following diseases must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class: Chicken pox – till scabs fall off, Cholera – till the child is completely well, Measles – Two weeks after the rash disappears, Mumps – About one month, until the swelling has subsided, Whooping Cough – Six weeks after recovery, Jaundice – Six weeks after recovery.

  • Students are permitted to wear festive dress on birthdays and distribute common biscuits/sweets to their classmates and teachers. However, students should not enter or disturb other classes for this purpose. In this context, distribution of fancy gifts/celebration of class parties is not permitted.

  • No student is permitted to come to school on Saturdays/holidays unless the school management communicates on such.
  • Students coming for practices on Saturdays/holidays must be in school uniform.
  • Parents are earnestly requested to pick up their child(ren) on a daily basis when the school ends.
